Environmental Responsibility
Sustainability
Golden State Foods’ commitment to doing what’s right
for future generations embodies our responsibility and
promise to conscientiously facilitate the prosperity of
associates, customers, partners, communities,
and the environment.
"Our vision focuses on maintaining the highest standards of social responsibility and implementing ESG initiatives throughout our global businesses. Integrating sustainability goals and other ESG priorities into our everyday best practices, all of our functional support groups and operational business units contribute to advancing GSF’s progress."
– Brian Dick, GSF President and Chief Executive Officer
Our corporate sustainability team ensures the prioritization of environmental, social, and corporate governance efforts across our businesses. Supporting our environmental sustainability initiatives, GSF's network of 15 Sustainability Coordinators serve as the facilitators for all sustainability-related information, programs, and
facility-level work.
Maintain The Highest Standards
Our environmental goals reflect our steadfast commitment to doing what's right for
our planet, our customers, and our communities. Understanding our impacts, our
current priorities focus on sending zero waste to landfills, reducing energy and
water intensity, and integrating renewable energy sources into our operations.
“Our near-and long-term sustainability goals help provide us a roadmap for improving our environmental performance and accountability. As a global food supplier, we know that achieving these goals will be no simple feat, but we are on
the right path thanks to the company-wide embrace of sustainability at GSF. Our goals are not siloed to individual business units; they are Golden State Foods' goals, and we are working together to address sustainability head-on.”
– Audrey Roth, Sustainability Specialist
Driving Fuel Efficiencies
By the end of 2025, our logistics team will
fulfill GSF's commitment to deploy 45
Volvo VNR Electric trucks into our Southern
California last-mile delivery fleet. Additionally, we're building an innovative, first-of-its-kind clean energy microgrid to support our ongoing efforts to reduce supply chain emissions, increase energy resiliency, and further bolster the environmental and economic benefits of fleet electrification.
In alignment with our internal climate-related goals, as well as the goals of our customers, GSF has reported to CDP since 2018.

From our onboarding process to ongoing performance management, fostering a culture of inclusion at GSF is a dynamic journey that shapes our corporate ethos.
"We at GSF understand that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We have made some ambitious commitments and have built a great foundation. With support from GSF’s leadership, the Sustainability Coordinator network, and all associates across our global businesses, we are confident we will do our part in creating a more sustainable, equitable, and profitable future."
– PJ Newcomb, Global Director of Sustainability
