Each month, GSF features a woman leader within the GSF family of companies, sharing her journey, insights and what it takes to succeed in this industry.
This month’s Woman in the Warehouse, Markesha Grimes of Golden State Foods (GSF) in Burleson, Texas, readily supports her team and ensures the liquids production line runs efficiently.
As a Warehouse Material Handler, Third Shift, Markesha most enjoys learning in her current position. She says that keeping an open mind and being prepared to learn while working are both key.
Before joining the GSF Liquid Products North America team nearly a year ago, Markesha worked at General Electric. Intrigued by the opportunity to move into food processing, she decided to change her career path.
“I was looking for something different, and this was a great fit,” Markesha says. “I take my job seriously because it involves food, and it’s food that we’re all eating, including myself and my family. I take pride in that.”
In addition to working full-time, Markesha currently studies IT as a full-time student. Markesha appreciates GSF’s ongoing support, as she pursues her educational goals.
“It’s important for me to finish school, and GSF has worked around my school schedule,” Markesha says. “They have really been supportive when it comes to juggling both.”
