When Janelle Oxford joined KanPak 25 years ago, the company had just 35 associates, one site, and two production lines. Today, KanPak boasts over 600 associates, two manufacturing sites, and eight lines, and Janelle has actively supported its growth every step of the way.
A Journey of Growth and Impact
Her career has been marked by transformation, not just in scale but in culture, systems, and relationships. From witnessing the construction of more than seven buildings to participating in the merger with GSF and the acquisition of KanPak’s Penn Yan, New York facility, Janelle has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s evolution.
“As KanPak grew, so did I,” said Janelle. “I was given the opportunity and trust to create positive change in many people, families, systems, processes, and cultures.”
A Culture That Feels Like Family
For Janelle, KanPak isn’t just a workplace; it’s a second home. The company’s Values and culture have fostered deep connections across generations, with associates’ children joining the GSF family or contributing to its Foundation work by attending volunteer events.
“Professionally and personally, this is a group of people with whom I can argue, laugh, struggle, and share my joys,” she expressed.
GSF’s support has extended beyond the office walls, funding her higher education and empowering her to lead with integrity and compassion. She credits the company’s respect for work-life balance as a key factor in her ability to thrive both professionally and personally.
Leading with Purpose and Passion
In her current role as Senior Director, Supply Chain and IT, no two days are the same. Whether she’s helping a colleague find data, educating peers about KanPak’s capabilities, or crafting presentations, Janelle’s work is rooted in communication and collaboration.
When asked what advice she’d offer to those starting out in the industry, Janelle shares a guiding principle that’s shaped her journey: “Never stop learning new things and ALWAYS learn from your mistakes. You only fail when you fail to learn.”
As she celebrates her 25th anniversary, Janelle reflects on the journey with gratitude and pride. Though she jokes that the milestone makes her feel “old,” it’s clear that her legacy is one of lasting impact, mentorship, and heart.
