On Friday May 8, GSF’s Chief Legal and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, John Page, received the first Southern California “Member of the Year” award from the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Southern California Chapter. The ACC is the leading global legal association that promotes the common professional and business interests of in-house counsel who work for corporations, associations and other private-sector organizations through information, education, networking opportunities and advocacy initiatives.
Page received the honor at the 20th Annual Gala Dinner held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, where the keynote address was given by the Nobel Laureate and human rights activist, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. This year also marks the 30th Anniversary of the ACC’s Southern California Chapter, making this award even more meaningful, as it will set the standard for future Southern California ACC “Member of the Year” recipients.
“My role as the Chief Legal and CSR Officer at GSF has allowed me to champion our efforts in the area of sustainability, and I’m hopeful that as the ACC’s Member of the Year, I’ll be able to lead by example and demonstrate that everyone, especially lawyers, have a responsibility to their communities and their companies to do the same,” said Page.
Page was selected for the award by the ACC’s board members, and was chosen due to his commitment to the organization, leading his company and ACC’s efforts to enlarge Corporate Social Responsibility, meaningful connections to their sponsors and members and due to the recent success of their “C-Suite Series” this past February, where Page chaired and moderated the event at the Balboa Bay Club.
Page has been a member of the ACC for 15 years, and is the first Southern California member to rise to the level of Chairman of the association on a global level.
