Golden State Foods Wins the Van Vlahakis’ Environmental Excellence Award

On October 6, Dimetria Jackson, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability, accepted the Van Vlahakis’ Sustainability Excellence Award for Golden State Foods. The award was presented by CleanTech OC and the Sustainability Council of Orange County, in conjunction with Earth Friendly Products. The award was established on behalf of the late Earth Friendly Products’ CEO, Van Vlahakis, to recognize outstanding performance and honor companies that go above and beyond to advance environmental initiatives and sustainability programs. Golden State Foods’ application for the award highlighted GSF’s use of solar energy to power pallet jacks and lift gates within its fleet. Using solar energy has effectively extended the service life of GSF’s lift gate electric batteries, thereby maximizing efficiency and minimizing the impact on the environment. “It was truly an honor to accept this award and I am so proud of the innovative ways in which Golden State Foods tries to minimize its environmental impact,” said Dimetria. “GSF will continue to strive for excellence in sustainability performance by exploring new ways to reduce its carbon footprint, as well as ensure that sustainable practices are at the heart of the company’s initiatives and goals.”
